The terracotta tile floor is one of the existing most welcoming floors exist, probably achieved only by the parquet flooring. Terracotta in fact gives special features to the environment in which it is placed: rustic, warm, cozy, if put in a farmhouse or in a country villa, elegant, professional and classy when put together with materials such as steel and glass, as is often done in professional studios.
The cotto tiled floor is a material that can fit any type of environment without being out of place; its innate warmth and elegance are some of the aspects that lead many people to choose it every year for their homes.

As every surface, to maintain its quality the handmade terracotta needs a special maintenance which, though not heavy, should be made absolutely.
In order to preserve its natural beauty, the terracotta floor undergoes a maintenance which is subject to the use of the floor, to the number of persons usually present in the house, to the possible presence of pets. Depending on the use of the floor, maintenance can be carried out every 3, 6 or 9 months.
To perform maintenance, we shall proceed to a detailed and thorough cleaning and to an abundant rinsing of the entire surface to be treated. The next step is to remove the wax previously applied, using suitable solvents commercially available in DIY centers.

At this point you have to apply an anti saltpeter product and finally you should use again the wax, using impregnating products that penetrate the cotto without forming surface films. The materials necessary for the maintenance of the floor tiles can be purchased at any DIY center.
This maintenance treatment helps to keep the terracotta impervious to any staining agent and to the effects of time, thereby protecting the surface from the aggression of any kind of dirt, allowing the preservation of the correct appearance and a subsequent rapid maintenance.
