The classic format, the most ancient one: here is the rectangle shaped cotto tiles
The first rudimentary forms of handmade terracotta, dating back to the sixth millennium BC, were limited to the production of this unique rectangular shape, commonly called “pianella” or “campigiana”. Used initially in its raw form, it had a purely structural function.
Today the Rettangola (another way to call the Pianella), has a role as a wildcard, being so charmingly simple that it can be matched to almost any kind of furniture. The Pianella is perfect both in the most rustic and simple houses and in the modern ones, giving a touch of warmth to them.
The colors are natural, without the addition of oxides.
